Welcome! This blog is very much an exercise in keeping my mind, fingers, observation skills and AP Stylebook familiarity sharp. Dorky, I know.
Random stuff:
- I started flying airplanes at age 15 and earned my pilot’s license at 18.
- I rode my bicycle 3,300 miles across the country – from California to Georgia – at age 22.
- I am employed by a non-profit – The Fuller Center for Housing – doing communications/PR work.
- I freelance regularly for Women’s Cycling Magazine & She Pedals – The Journal of Women in Cycling.
- I played rugby in college. I don’t even know why.
- I held internships at the San Antonio Current (an alternative newsweekly), WAMU 88.5 – National Public Radio in Washington, D.C., and The Washington Post’s online politics section. I also was, at various times, the photography and news/features editor of my university’s only student-run magazine, Am Word.
- To take photographs, I use a Nikon D40 D-SLR or a Nikon N75 film camera (old school). I know how to develop black & white film.
- I fit many of the stereotypes featured on the blog Stuff White People Like, especially my penchant for good grammar and my addiction to NPR, The New York Times, bicycles, “outdoor performance clothing” and coffee.
